The mission of the american polocrosse association is to offer educational programs which promote sportsmanship through domestic and international player development programs and to teach horsemanship for the protection and welfare of the horses and players.

Nationals: because of the travel distance between clubs across the united states and the added complexity of shipping horses to competition, the apa sponsors a nationals tournament every two years. This event allows the membership to come together for a membership meeting, cameraderie, and competition. National awards are presented and players vie for the title of national champion.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Cross over challenge: this program is aimed at developing both trainer and equine athletes for the sport of polcrosse. Members can acquire a recently retired thoroughbred racehorse through the program and prepare it over a period not to exceed 16 months for competition in polocrosse. The format for competition is designed to test the quality and progress of each horses training in regard to ease of handling, agility and responsiveness. The final evaluation and competition completion takes place at the apa nationals tournament every two years.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

World cup: as a member of the international polocrosse association, the apa competes in the world cup. This creates an international presence in the sport of polocrosse, educates the public on the sport and demonstrates the importance of sportsmanship. The next world cup competition will be 2020 in queensland australia. Currently, we have a group of eight elite american polocrosse players who make up the team.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN POLOCROSSE ASSOCIATION IS TO OFFER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WHICH PROMOTE SPORTSMANSHIP THROUGH DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND TO TEACH HORSEMANSHIP FOR THE PROTECTION AND WELFARE OF THE HORSES AND PLAYERS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5NATIONALS: BECAUSE OF THE TRAVEL DISTANCE BETWEEN CLUBS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND THE ADDED COMPLEXITY OF SHIPPING HORSES TO COMPETITION, THE APA SPONSORS A NATIONALS TOURNAMENT EVERY TWO YEARS. THIS EVENT ALLOWS THE MEMBERSHIP TO COME TOGETHER FOR A MEMBERSHIP MEETING, CAMERADERIE, AND COMPETITION. NATIONAL AWARDS ARE PRESENTED AND PLAYERS VIE FOR THE TITLE OF NATIONAL CHAMPION.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6CROSS OVER CHALLENGE: THIS PROGRAM IS AIMED AT DEVELOPING BOTH TRAINER AND EQUINE ATHLETES FOR THE SPORT OF POLCROSSE.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt7WORLD CUP: AS A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL POLOCROSSE ASSOCIATION, THE APA COMPETES IN THE WORLD CUP.
