“The Side-Out Foundation was established to educate, empower, and unite the volleyball community through outreach, and drive change in the way that breast cancer is treated by owning and managing its very own game-changing stage IV breast cancer clinical trial, the Side-Out Protocol. Making breast cancer a manageable disease (similar to diabetes) takes an organization with extraordinary vision & cutting-edge tactics. The Side-Out Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 2004 by Richard and Bryant Dunetz, to empower a new generation of advocates, make significant and identifiable impact on the way breast cancer is treated, and give those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) more tomorrows. Since its inception, the foundation has (I) built educational and community-driven programs focused on teaching advocacy to the next generation of changemakers, equipping them with skills and tools to support Side-Out's mission, as well as any cause they wish to connect to in their future; (II) forged groundbreaking collaborations with prestigious research teams, hospitals, and research centers nationwide and; (III) leveraged new technologies to improve, alter cancer trajectories, and constantly challenge the foundation of cancer care so as to significantly extend the lives of those living with MBC. For 10 years the foundation's researchers studied metastatic tumor DNA and the proteins that drive them in a highly targeted research program called The Side-Out Protocol (a direct impact clinical trial managed and operated by Side-Out). This trial was the first and only of its kind to use a multi-omic (genomic, proteomic, and phosphoproteomic analysis) approach along with personalized medicine in the area of MBC research. By using this approach, The Side-Out Protocol provided patients treatment based not on their type of cancer, but on their own cancer cells' molecular architecture. The Side-Out Protocol proved that precision medicine has the ability to significantly extend the lives of those living with the most aggressive stages of breast cancer and that standard level of care as a one-size-fits-all approach is suboptimal and does not benefit every cancer patient. Moving forward, the foundation's goal is to leverage the past 10 years of its precision medicine research to provide patients and their oncologists the information they need to make an informed decision about their cancer journey and to solve some of the most challenging problems in MBC research and care. Side-Out's new metastatic breast cancer research program is available to any and all MBC patients regardless of insurance or previous care at no cost to them. This program gives patients a personalized precision medicine analysis that ranks treatment solutions and clinical trials for which they qualify. For underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, this brings them a level of care previously inaccessible to them. Further, the foundation plans to increase and diversify patient participation through a multi-faceted approach so as to reach patients directly, as well as partner with local and regional cancer centers and oncologists. The result of this will be two-fold: (I) Patients will have the opportunity to take control of their cancer journey and benefit from proven, life-extending science without the financial and emotional burden of traveling to larger cancer centers for care, and (II) These local and regional cancer centers and oncologists can provide their patients access to high-level precision medicine care, services their facilities may not currently be capable of providing due to limited resources. For every patient enrolled in our trials, Side-Out receives biomarker data that can deepen our understanding of MBC and identify evolving trends to improve outcomes. This data set is housed in Side-Out's MBC Bioinformatics Portal where oncologists, biologists, and scientists can access and use the data to further their own research. This revolutionary pro”
“On January 1, 2009, the Foundation adopted the provisions of FASB ASC Topic 740-10 Income Taxes. The implementation of FASB ASC Topic 740-10 had no impact on the Foundation's financial statements and, accordingly, no interest or penalties have been accrued. Management believes it has no material uncertain tax positions or any related penalties and interest to accrue for the year ended March 31, 2022, and accordingly, there is no liability for unrecognized benefits.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Funds raised in 2021 through the Foundation's two advocacy programs Dig Pink and the Ambassador Program were used for the advancement and expansion of Side-Out's newest metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research study. Serving 50 patients in its pilot launch in fiscal year 2020, this program harnesses multi-omic advanced diagnostics to identify treatment response predictors. Such a revolutionary approach provides MBC patients and their oncologists a precise analysis, outlining treatment solutions and clinical trials that may benefit an individual patient based on their cancer's unique molecular architecture. In 2021, the Foundation served 102 patients, providing them with this comprehensive analysis to allow them to make an informed decision about their personal cancer journey. While directly helping cancer patients, this program also collected biomarker data for the diversification of Side-Out's one-of-a-kind, relational bioinformatics portal. This one-of-a-kind collection of MBC data allows science to advance and affords the opportunity to discover new targets, new treatments, and new pathways to extend the lives of those faced with this disease. The foundation's own discoveries have been presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in December of 2021 (the Side-Out 3 trial) and published in the journal of Molecular Oncology (the Side-Out 2 trial). Molecular Oncology is one of the most prestigious journals in the oncology category. Side-Out's work (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34437759/) has shown that the multi-omic approach we proposed in the trial improved clinical outcomes of patients with aggressive MBC and continues to be a basis for our research moving forward. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | The Side-Out Foundation was established to educate, empower, and unite the volleyball community through outreach, and drive change in the way that breast cancer is treated by owning and managing its very own game-changing stage IV breast cancer clinical trial, the Side-Out Protocol. This revolutionary pro |
