Any business transactions with ret involving an employee of ret or any of his/her relatives must be disclosed and approved by the management. Where the business transaction involves any member of the management, then it must be disclosed to and approved by the regional director, and by the coo. Following full disclosure of a possible conflict of interest or any condition listed above, according to the position of the interested person, the board of directors or hq/country conflict of interest committee shall determine whether a conflict of interest exists and, if so the board or hq/country conflict of interest committee shall vote to authorize or reject the transaction or take any other action deemed necessary to address the conflict and protect ret's best interests. WE STAND WITH PEOPLE, WITH REFUGEES, RETURNEES, MIGRANTS AND INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDP'S), ALONGSIDE THE HOST COMMUNITIES ADOPTING THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF HUMANITY, IMPARTIALITY, NEUTRALITY, AND INDEPENDENCE.DURING THE 12 MONTHS ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2024, RET AMERICAS WAS ENGAGED IN THREE PROJECTS, ALL BASED IN PERU. THE LARGEST OF THESE PROJECTS, WHICH HAD STARTED IN 2022 AND ENDED IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2024, WAS ADMINISTERED BY UNICEF WITH FUNDING PROVIDED BY "EDUCATION CANNOT WAIT" (ECW), A GLOBAL FUND INTENDED TO PROVIDE CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN ARMED CONFLICTS, FORCED DISPLACEMENT AND PROTRACTED CRISES WITH THE SAFETY, HOPE AND OPPORTUNITY OF AN EDUCATION. ECW PROJECTS ARE DESIGNED TO PROMOTE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION WITH EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIGRANT AND REFUGEE CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND HOST COMMUNITIES. RET AMERICAS ALSO HAD ANOTHER PROJECT WITH A SIMILAR THEME THAT WAS FINANCED DIRECTLY BY UNESCO. THIS 2-MONTH PROJECT REQUIRED RET TO PROVIDE ADVICE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE INTEGRATION AMONG REFUGEE, MIGRANT AND HOST POPULATIONS IN THE CITIES OF TRUJILLO AND AREQUIP IN PERU. IN OCTOBER 2024, RET STARTED A NEW 3-YEAR ECW "RESILIENCY" PROJECT DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT REFUGEES, MIGRANTS AND ADOLESCENTS RECEIVE AN INCLUSIVE, QUALITY AND EQUITABLE EDUCATION IN THEIR HOST COUNTRY, AND FEEL HAPPY AND SAFE AT SCHOOL.FOR MOST PROJECTS RET AMERICAS HAS 10 TO 20 EMPLOYEES BASED IN EACH PROJECT LOCATION, INCLUDING HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF FAMILIAR WITH THE COMPLEX AND DELICATE TASK OF WORKING WITH YOUTH WHO HAVE IN SOME CASES SUFFERED MULTIPLE TRAUMAS AS A RESULT OF CONFLICTS AND OTHER DISLOCATING FACTORS ENTIRELY OUTSIDE THEIR CONTROL. THE CRITICAL WORK OF THESE FIELD STAFF IS SUPPLEMENTED AS NECESSARY BY OTHER COMPANY SPECIALISTS BASED IN THE REGIONAL OFFICE IN PANAMA OR THE COMPANY'S HQ IN SWITZERLAND. THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE PROGRAMS ARE THEREFORE PRIMARILY STAFF COSTS, EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES INCLUDING THE COSTS OF HIRING OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS AND TRAVEL COSTS. |
