“The organization works with a network of independent state chapters that share a common mission and collaborate to provide services and support to families and professionals. Each chapter is a separately incorporated nonprofit organization and maintains its own federal tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3). In order to maintain affiliation with the national organization and use the organization's name and branding, each chapter enters into an annual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the organization. The MOU outlines expectations related to mission alignment, use of the organization's name and logo, communication practices, and collaboration on programs and initiatives. The organization provides guidance, resources, and coordination opportunities to support consistency with the organization's mission and values; however, each chapter operates independently with its own governing board and is responsible for its own financial and operational management.”

“Office manager completes the 990. The completed 990 is reviewed by the executive director. The 990 is then reviewed by 2 members of the board prior to submitting.”

“Board members recuse themselves in any actions that may have potential conflict of interest and it is noted in minutes-including leaving the room if discussions are needed. Policy is reviewed annually by Board. Board annually reviews Board of Directors Manual and complies with conflict of interest section in bylaws section 4.1 and manual Page 9F.”
