| IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt | 0 | PART II, LINE 17A--10% FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES TEST--2015 THIS STATEMENT EXPLAINS IFRED'S QUALIFICATION AS A PUBLICLY SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION UNDER THE 10% FACTS-AND-CIRCUMSTANCES TEST AS SET FORTH IN REGULATIONS SECTION 1.170A-9T(F)(3), BY VIRTUE OF NORMALLY RECEIVING A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF ITS SUPPORT FROM PUBLIC SOURCES AND MEETING THE OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF PARAGRAPH (F)(3). (I) IFRED MEETS THE TEN PERCENT SUPPORT LIMITATION, AS CALCULATED IN SCHEDULE A, PART II, SECTION C. (II) IFRED IS ORGANIZED AND OPERATED IN A MANNER DESIGNED TO ATTRACT NEW AND ADDITIONAL PUBLIC AND GOVERNMENTAL SUPPORT. IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN SEVERAL STATES TO SOLICIT FUNDING, AND PURSUES CORPORATIONS, INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO SOLICIT SPONSORSHIP OF THE SCHOOLS FOR HOPE PROGRAM. IFRED PLANS TO CARRY ON ITS SCHOOLS FOR HOPE ACTIVITY, WHICH IS DESIGNED TO ATTRACT SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENTAL UNITS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 170(B)(1)(A)(I) THROUGH (VI). DURING THE EARLY YEARS OF IFRED'S OPERATIONSM, ITS FOUNDER SUPPORTED DEVELOPMENT OF ITS PROGRAMS THROUGH A CAUSE MARKETING CAMPAIGN CONDUCTED BY HER WHOLLY-OWNED CORPORATION. THIS CAMPAIGN WAS DRIVEN BY CONSUMER PURCHASES OF PRODUCTS WHICH SPECIFIED THAT A PERCENTAGE OF SALES WOULD BE CONTRIBUTED TO IFRED. THE CAMPAIGN ALLOWED IFRED TO DEVELOP ITS CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS AND TO RENDER ITSELF IN A POSITION TO EXPAND THE REACH OF ITS SOLICITATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS. THE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE FOUNDER'S CORPORATION HAVE BEEN MARKEDLY REDUCED DUE TO THE ENDING OF THE CAUSE MARKETING CAMPAIGN AND OVERALL SLOWING OF BUSINESS, AND IFRED IS NOW DEPENDENT ON DIRECT AND INDIRECT CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR THE BULK OF ITS FUTURE SUPPORT. IN FACT ITS PUBLIC SUPPORT PERCENTAGE FOR 2015 HAS INCREASED OVER THE PERCENTAGE FROM 2014 AS A RESULT OF INCREASED PUBLIC DONATIONS. (III) IN ADDITION TO THE REQUIREMENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE, OTHER RELEVANT FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES SUPPORT IFRED'S DETERMINATION THAT IT IS IN THE NATURE OF AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS PUBLICLY SUPPORTED. IFRED'S ACTIVITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO ANY PARTICULAR GEOGRAPHIC AREA; RATHER, ITS EDUCATION EFFORTS ARE DIRECTED AT A WORLDWIDE AUDIENCE OF THOSE WHO MIGHT BE AFFECTED BY DEPRESSION. FURTHERMORE, IFRED PLANS TO EXPAND ITS SCHOOLS FOR HOPE PROGRAM INTO SCHOOLS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA. IFRED'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS, MOREOVER, CONSISTS OF HIGHLY RECOGNIZED EXPERTS IN THE FIELD OF MENTAL HEALTH, EACH OF WHOM HAS SPECIAL EXPERTISE WITH RESPECT TO DEPRESSIONA AND THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF THE STIGMA ATTACHED TO THE ILLNESS. FINALLY, IFRED'S SCHOOLS FOR HOPE PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL SERVICES IN SCHOOLS FREE OF CHARGE, IN ORDER TO TEACH CHILDREN THAT HOPE IS A LEARNED SKILL. IFRED ALSO MAINTAINS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES ON ITS WEBSITE, AVAILABLE TO ALL WHO SEEK HELP FOR DEPRESSION. |
