FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

To be the cutting-edge program for at-risk latino preschoolers in sandy springs, georgia. We offer our three- to six-year-olds a jump start on pre-academics, bridging the existing education gap. With dedicated teachers, trained teens, informed parents, and a research-based curriculum, we create a passion for learning and giving back.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Music, yoga and karate. With bicultural and certified teachers and the welcome help of countless volunteers, the children receive a well-rounded education that is proven. Parent engagement program in addition to offering academic teaching, lnp believes parent engagement is essential to the success to of their children. At lnp, parents are required to attend the educational programs we offer. They learn how to academically support their kids, the ins and outs of the public school system, and how to navigate socio/cultural/economic barriers that may confront them on a daily basis. They also have the opportunity to participate in a leadership program that helps them to take risk and be an active voice in the organization. Teen volunteer program teen volunteers play perhaps the most crucial role to the operational performance of the organization. These young adults, ages thirteen to college age, act as teachers' assistants. Some of the teenagers are actually former los nios primero students. They are well trained to participate as teacher assistant and serve as a role model for the children. The teen volunteer program is coordinated by some of lnp former student. No words of encouragement about academic achievement could be as powerful as seeing older kids from a similar background, doing well in school and even applying to college. During 2014 in the preschool programs, 180 students attended the full-day summer school program and 81 students attended the year-round saturday school program. In order to inspire our former preschoolers throughout the years, we continue providing educational opportunities and support to them. They participated in the chorus, karate, orchestra and soccer programs in 2014. Los nios primero measures its effectiveness by testing the students before and after the summer program to determine their knowledge and skills gained and overall school readiness. The tests are different for each age group. Each test consists of a list of 15-30 aptitudes, and the children either successfully complete the individual tasks or do not. According to the data from the 2014 pre and post-testing, only 9 of the 33 three year-olds could recognize their name by sight at the start of the 2014 summer programs. After the 3 week program, 22 three year-olds could recognize their names by sight. That is a 144% gain. Other skills were measured in this way, such as knowledge of personal information, body parts recognition, emergent reading skills, and social skills. Gains were seen in every metric. Another example is that among the 48 six year-olds, at the beginning of the 2014 summer semester, only 5 could demonstrate proper understanding and use of prepositions such as "above." after the 3-week program, 29 demonstrated proper knowledge of the preposition "above." that is a 480% gain. Again, notable gains were seen in every metric, for every age group.

Form 990, Page 12, Part XII, Line 1

Los ninos primero changed its accounting method from cash method of accounting in prior years to the accrual method of accounting for 2014 tax year.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0TO BE THE CUTTING-EDGE PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK LATINO PRESCHOOLERS IN SANDY SPRINGS, GEORGIA.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1MUSIC, YOGA AND KARATE.
