Located in downtown orlando, this community facility, when completed will include: three performance theaters, an outdoor performance plaza, rehearsal rooms, administrative offices, and arts education spaces. Dr. Phillips center is a mission-driven performing arts center whose focus extends beyond presenting performances, and extends to enhancing the central florida community on and off the stage through programming and outreach programs. The new theaters, public spaces and programming is being planned to enhance the quality of life, offer opportunities for cultural enrichment, and provide arts education throughout central florida.the organization is responsible for overseeing the development of the performing arts center including fundraising for the design and construction, overseeing and participating in the project development and construction, ongoing operation of programs and maintenance of the center upon completion. The first phase of the center is opening in november of 2014.

OUTREACH PROGRAMS.

Hub for our city, our 7 county region, and our many visitors to orlando yearly.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A:

We provide a venue for smaller local groups to build their audience and the opportunity for expression.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4B:

Broadway master classes allow local students and pre-professionals to train with visiting professionals from national broadway tours. Education programs go beyond our doors into the community outreach opportunities as well. Our applause awards program serves schools in the 7 county region by providing professional adjudicators to over 40 high school musical productions. Based on the adjudicator comments and tabulations, productions and individuals receive awards in specific categories at a ceremony held each year at the center. During certain music performances we bring in groups of students to experience the sound check of the artists, a q&a, a lecture series, dinner and tickets to the show. In the summer we provide teachers to partner with a local organization that serves special needs students in camps. At the end of the week the campers perform their production at the arts center. Through grants we provide arts curriculum and teachers to at-risk schools. Artist residencies allow visiting artists to go into the community during their time at the arts center (examples include: artists visited schools and hospitals prior to a performance; created pieces with a group of senior citizens at a residential community, worked with a group of special needs high school students and area high schools' performing arts programs.

Our production team provides significant production support and expertise to local arts groups and community organizations in their presentations at the arts center. Community and civic organizations have made their announcements here; free community concerts on the outdoor plaza include community artists and national artists; we have provided special services, tickets and events for veterans.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

Permanent endowments are to be held in perpetuity, while income on these amounts are unrestricted in nature and will be used for general operations.

PART X, LINE 2:

The Organization is exempt from Federal income tax under provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and from state income taxes under similar provisions of the Florida Income Tax Code. In addition, the Organization has been determined by the Internal Revenue Service not to be a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a) of the Code. Consequently, no provision for income taxes has been included in the accompanying financial statements. The Organization identifies and evaluates uncertain tax positions, if any, and recognizes the impact of uncertain tax positions for which there is a less than more-likely-than-not probability of the position being upheld when reviewed by the relevant taxing authority. Such positions are deemed to be unrecognized tax benefits and a corresponding liability is established on the statement of financial position. The Organization has not recognized a liability for uncertain tax positions. If there were an unrecognized tax benefit, the Organization would recognize interest accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. The Organization's open tax years subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service generally remain open for three years from the date of filing.
