THE BUILDING PERMIT VALUATION TABLE USED BY METRO WEST OVERSTATES THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOME ON THE BUILDING PERMIT I.E. THE BUILDER SUBMITTED A PERMIT VALUATION OF 80,000, NYA ASSIGNED A VALUATION OF 141,000; THE BUILDERS ACTUAL COST FOR PERMIT-RELATED WORK WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,426. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON TWO CONSECUTIVE PERMITS THAT WERE PULLED BY THE BUILDER. THE BUILDER AND THEIR LEGAL COUNSEL HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE DIRECTLY WITH CITY STAFF; THE CITY SAID IT WOULD NOT ADJUST THE VALUATION FOR PERMIT APPLICATIONS. THE LEGAL ACTION FUND FORMALLY ENGAGED NYA TO COMPEL THEIR COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW. THE CASE IS CURRENTLY IN-PROCESS.
