“Expenses for the organization fall into two primary categories: Food for our rescued cats and kittens, and medical care for our animals. The bulk of our food is purchased via two wholesale distributors, although some food is, of necessity, purchased via retail and online sources. Medical care for our cats is provided primarily by local veterinary clinics, with which we have close working relationships. On occasion, the organization must also utilize the services of veterinary specialists, when our regular veterinary clinics are unable to diagnose or treat certain medical conditions. In addition, the services of local emergency clinics must be obtained when critical medical care is required outside of regular business hours, or for care that our regular veterinary clinics are unable to provide. Prescription medications are purchased from the veterinary clinics with which we do business, as well as from regular and compounding pharmacies. We seek to ensure that our cats are provided with optimal nutrition that best meets our cats individual needs, as well as to ensure that our cats receive all necessary, essential medical care, per the advice of veterinary professionals. At the same time, we endeavor to keep our costs as low as possible. Related supplies that are necessary to provide for our cats needs are purchased as needed. Supplies include, but are not limited to, vaccines, microchips, litter boxes, cat litter, scratching posts, cat carriers, non-prescription health care products and nutritional supplements.”
