Mission

To respectfully assist people to achieve and sustain self-sufficiency through direct services, education, and community partnerships. The agency administers more than 50 different programs including head start, early head start, homeless intervention and homeless vulnerable programs, supportive services, food pantry, and domestic violence intervention program.

It is the mission of the cayuga/seneca community action agency, inc. To respectfully assist people to achieve and sustain self-sufficiency through direct services, education, and community partnerships. The agency administers more than 30 different programs including head start, early head start, health families, homeless intervention and homeless vulnerable programs, supportive services, food pantry, domestic violence intervention program, and weatherization.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The agency is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the agency's tax-exempt purpose could be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. In accordance with asc 740-15-50, the agency recognizes the tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authorities. Management believes that the agency is currently operating in compliance with the applicable requirements of the internal revenue code. Therefore, no liability for unrecorded tax benefits has been included on the agency's financial statements.

PROGRAM ADVOCATES HAVE ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ARE EXPERIENCED IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE. THEY UNDERSTAND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE, COURT AND SOCIAL SERVICES SYSTEMS, AND ARE FAMILIAR WITH OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES THAT MIGHT BE USEFUL TO VICTIMS. IN ADDITION, AN ADVOCATE CAN ACCOMPANY A VICTIM TO COURT, THE POLICE STATION, OR TO SOCIAL SERVICES AND PROVIDE YOU WITH PRACTICAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. THE PROGRAM ALSO OPERATES A SUPERVISED VISITATION/SAFE EXCHANGE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES A SECURE, CHILD-FRIENDLY CENTER WHERE COURT-ORDERED OR SELF REFERRED PARENTS CAN EXERCISE VISITATION OR SAFE EXCHANGES OF THEIR CHILDREN WITH A FORMERLY ABUSIVE PARTNER. RENT SUBSIDIES AND CASE MANAGEMENT ARE ALSO PART OF THE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PROGRAM.
