“Through volunteerism and fundraising activities, the zonta international- albany provides assistance to local not-for-profit organizations that serve the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and/or those recovering from substance abuse; that provide legal assistance and health care; and that foster self-esteem and independence for women and girls. Some of the organizations that were recipients of our financial awards for the 2017- 2018 zonta year were: the legal project which provides legal assistance to the needy; compassion in action (koinonia primary care clinic) which provides quality primary and mental health services to the underserved; the capital city rescue mission womens and children's new faith family center which provides shelter to needy women and their children; the st. Paul's center a shelter for homeless mothers and their children; and the next step a community residence for recovering alcoholic/chemically dependent women.”
