| FAMILY FUN NIGHT IS A SCHOOL FESTIVAL HELD IN THE EVENING AT THE SCHOOL. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE KICKBALL TOURNAMENT, TALENT SHOW, A PERSON WHO DOES GLITTER TATTOOS, LOCAL POLICE MAKING CHILD SAFETY IDS, A DJ, RAFFLES AND FOOD TO PURCHASE. AN ESTIMATED 150 FAMILIES ATTEND THIS EVENT. ALTHOUGH IT IS A PTA FUNDED EVENT, IT IS JOINTLY RUN BY THE PTA VOLUNTEERS, TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF. THIS ACTIVITY BRINGS A CLOSER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL AND DEVELOPS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SCHOOL, AND OUTSIDE AGENCIES. BARE BOOKS: PTA SUPPLIES BLANK, BOUND, HARD COVER BOOKS TO THE 5 TH GRADE STUDENTS. BOOK SWAPS: OCCURS 2 TIMES A YEAR BEFORE SCHOOL BREAKS. PTA GETS DONATIONS OF GENTLY USED BOOKS FROM CURRENT AND FORMER FAMILIES AND STAFF. THEY SET UP TABLES IN A ROOM BY GRADE SO STUDENTS CAN COME IN WITH THEIR CLASSES TO CHOOSE A "NEW TO THEM" BOOK TO READ. FIELD DAY: STUDENTS PARTICIPATE WITH THEIR CLASS IN VARIOUS OUTDOOR GAMES AND ACTIVITIES CENTERED AROUND A THEME SUCH AS OLYMPICS. PTA PROVIDES VOLUNTEERS AND ICE POPS. FIFTH GRADE PICNIC: FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS ENJOY A PICNIC AND SWIMMING AT A LOCAL PARK PAVILION AND POOL WITH PAID LIFEGUARDS. THE PTA PAYS FOR THE RENTAL OF THE PAVILION, POOL AND LIFEGUARDS. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT IS HELD IN ONCE IN THE FALL AND ONCE IN THE SPRING. WE ALSO HELD ONE IN FEBRUARY THIS YEAR THAT WAS FREE. STUDENTS GATHER IN THE SCHOOL GYM TO WATCH AN AGE APPROPRIATE MOVIE IN THE EVENING. THE PTA PURCHASES THE DVD THAT IS RAFFLED OFF AT THE EVENT, A MOVIE LICENSE TO LEGALLY SHOW THE MOVIE, BOTTLED WATER AND SNACKS. ART NATURE PHOTOS: PTA COVERS THE COST OF PRINTING PHOTOS OF EACH 5 TH GRADE STUDENT'S NATURE ART SCULPTURE. THE PHOTOS ARE GIVEN TO EACH STUDENT AS A KEEPSAKE. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS AND FAMILY NIGHT IS HELD THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. STUDENTS CAN PURCHASE BOOKS AND THE PROFITS GO BACK TO THE PTA TO SUPPORT OTHER PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. STUDENTS PRESENT THE SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS AND THE HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE VARIOUS SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS. THE PTA PROVIDES PRIZES FOR PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPLIES FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE DEMONSTRATIONS. GEMS: GIRLS EMPOWERED AND MOTIVATED TO SUCCEED IS A PROGRAM FOR 4TH AND 5TH GIRLS TO SUPPORT AND EMPOWER THEM AS THEY ENTER THE TWEEN YEARS. THIS PROGRAM RECEIVED A 1,000 GRANT FROM VASSAR COLLEGE THIS YEAR. FAMILY MATH AND GAME NIGHT PROVIDES FAMILIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY VARIOUS MATH AND LOGIC BASED GAMES AT THE SCHOOL. THE PTA BUYS A FEW NEW GAMES EACH YEAR. THE GAMES WERE USED BOTH AT THE GAME NIGHT AND THE 6 WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL GAME CLUB AS WELL AS THE FIRST GAME DAY WE DID THIS YEAR. MOTHER'S DAY PLANT SALE PROVIDES STUDENTS A CHANCE TO PURCHASE PLANTS AT A REDUCED COST FOR FAMILY MEMBERS. THE PROCEEDS HELP FUND VARIOUS PTA PROGRAMS. FAMILY NIGHTS OUT INCLUDES SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES AND STAFF OUTSIDE SCHOOL SUCH AS RESTAURANT NIGHTS AND A GROUP VISIT TO THE RENEGADES SEMI PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL TEAM. CHESS CLUB, LEGO LEAGUE, AND MULTICULTURAL NIGHT. THE PTA PROVIDES SUPPLIES TO THESE VARIOUS SCHOOL CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES. SQUARE ONE ART: SQUARE ONE ART IS AN OUTSIDE FUNDRAISING COMPANY. STUDENTS COMPLETE ARTWORK, WHICH IS SHIPPED TO SQUARE ONE ART WHO THEN CREATES A CATALOGUE OF ITEMS FEATURING THE STUDENT'S ARTWORK. ITEMS TO ORDER INCLUDE MUGS, MOUSE PADS, TILES, PHONE CASES AND BAGS. “Arts in education program provide opportunities for students to experience and participate in activities related to the arts that they may not otherwise have exposure to outside of school hours. This includes a dance residency with a professional dancer, a trip to the theater to see a play, visits from authors and poets, book making with an author, a science program and a marionette performance. The arts in education program relates to the pta bylaws by promoting the welfare of students in the school and community and develops a relationship between educators and the general public to give advantages in physical, mental, social education.”
“Pta grant program grants money towards teacher and staff identified needs within the school. Teachers and staff must be current pta members when applying for a grant, stating the desired item(s), purpose and benefits to students, and the cost. The pta grants committee reviews the applications and determines best way to spend the budgeted grant monies. The pta grant program relates to the pta bylaws by promoting the welfare of children in the school and building a better relationship with the teachers.”
“Family fun night is a school festival held in the evening at the school. Activities include kickball tournament, talent show, a person who does glitter tattoos, local police making child safety ids, a dj, raffles and food to purchase. An estimated 150 families attend this event. Although it is a pta funded event, it is jointly run by the pta volunteers, teachers and school staff. This activity brings a closer relationship between home and school and develops a relationship between the school, and outside agencies. Bare books: pta supplies blank, bound, hard cover books to the 5 th grade students. Book swaps: occurs 2 times a year before school breaks. Pta gets donations of gently used books from current and former families and staff. They set up tables in a room by grade so students can come in with their classes to choose a "new to them" book to read. Field day: students participate with their class in various outdoor games and activities centered around a theme such as olympics. Pta provides volunteers and ice pops. Fifth grade picnic: fifth grade students enjoy a picnic and swimming at a local park pavilion and pool with paid lifeguards. The pta pays for the rental of the pavilion, pool and lifeguards. The pta also provides each fifth grade student with a class t-shirt to designed by a student and ice pops. Fifth grade moving up ceremony and reception: this is the ceremony for students graduating fifth grade and moving on to middle school. The pta provides frames for the awards, bottled water and snacks. Homework planners: the pta provides bound homework planners to each third, fourth and fifth grade student to facilitate time management and student responsibility. Family movie night is held in once in the fall and once in the spring. We also held one in february this year that was free. Students gather in the school gym to watch an age appropriate movie in the evening. The pta purchases the dvd that is raffled off at the event, a movie license to legally show the movie, bottled water and snacks. Art nature photos: pta covers the cost of printing photos of each 5 th grade student's nature art sculpture. The photos are given to each student as a keepsake. Scholastic book fairs and family night is held three times throughout the school year. Students can purchase books and the profits go back to the pta to support other programs and events. This event promotes literacy to the students. The family nights give families an opportunity to visit the book fair on the evening, play games and do crafts related to the book fair theme. Reflections awards ceremony is held jointly with other district ptas. The ptas split the cost of awards and refreshments for the ceremony. Holiday boutique gives students an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for their family members. Barnes and noble book fair is an all day event where the pta receives a portion of the sales if shoppers provide the cashier with a fundraising flyer. In the evening, the school's 5th grade chorus, band and orchestra perform for the community. A parent set up a table to play loteria (picture bingo) with children and we had a craft table set up as well as storytime. Family dance night is held in the school gym, giving families an opportunity to socialize and build relationships. The pta provides the dj, snacks and bottled water. Family science night kicks off the school science fair leading up to the district math, science and technology fair. Students present the science fair projects and the high school science students demonstrate various science experiments. The pta provides prizes for participants and supplies for the high school science demonstrations. Gems: girls empowered and motivated to succeed is a program for 4th and 5th girls to support and empower them as they enter the tween years. This program received a 1,000 grant from vassar college this year. Family math and game night provides families the opportunity to play various math and logic based games at the”

PTA GETS DONATIONS OF GENTLY USED BOOKS FROM CURRENT AND FORMER FAMILIES AND STAFF. THEY SET UP TABLES IN A ROOM BY GRADE SO STUDENTS CAN COME IN WITH THEIR CLASSES TO CHOOSE A "NEW TO THEM" BOOK TO READ. FIELD DAY: STUDENTS PARTICIPATE WITH THEIR CLASS IN VARIOUS OUTDOOR GAMES AND ACTIVITIES CENTERED AROUND A THEME SUCH AS OLYMPICS. PTA PROVIDES VOLUNTEERS AND ICE POPS. FIFTH GRADE PICNIC: FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS ENJOY A PICNIC AND SWIMMING AT A LOCAL PARK PAVILION AND POOL WITH PAID LIFEGUARDS. THE PTA PAYS FOR THE RENTAL OF THE PAVILION, POOL AND LIFEGUARDS. THE PTA ALSO PROVIDES EACH FIFTH GRADE STUDENT WITH A CLASS T-SHIRT TO DESIGNED BY A STUDENT AND ICE POPS. FIFTH GRADE MOVING UP CEREMONY AND RECEPTION: THIS IS THE CEREMONY FOR STUDENTS GRADUATING FIFTH GRADE AND MOVING ON TO MIDDLE SCHOOL. HOMEWORK PLANNERS: THE PTA PROVIDES BOUND HOMEWORK PLANNERS TO EACH THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE STUDENT TO FACILITATE TIME MANAGEMENT AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT IS HELD IN ONCE IN THE FALL AND ONCE IN THE SPRING. WE ALSO HELD ONE IN FEBRUARY THIS YEAR THAT WAS FREE. STUDENTS GATHER IN THE SCHOOL GYM TO WATCH AN AGE APPROPRIATE MOVIE IN THE EVENING. THE PTA PURCHASES THE DVD THAT IS RAFFLED OFF AT THE EVENT, A MOVIE LICENSE TO LEGALLY SHOW THE MOVIE, BOTTLED WATER AND SNACKS. ART NATURE PHOTOS: PTA COVERS THE COST OF PRINTING PHOTOS OF EACH 5 TH GRADE STUDENT'S NATURE ART SCULPTURE. THE PHOTOS ARE GIVEN TO EACH STUDENT AS A KEEPSAKE. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS AND FAMILY NIGHT IS HELD THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. STUDENTS CAN PURCHASE BOOKS AND THE PROFITS GO BACK TO THE PTA TO SUPPORT OTHER PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. REFLECTIONS AWARDS CEREMONY IS HELD JOINTLY WITH OTHER DISTRICT PTAS. THE PTAS SPLIT THE COST OF AWARDS AND REFRESHMENTS FOR THE CEREMONY. HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE GIVES STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR IS AN ALL DAY EVENT WHERE THE PTA RECEIVES A PORTION OF THE SALES IF SHOPPERS PROVIDE THE CASHIER WITH A FUNDRAISING FLYER. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE KICKBALL TOURNAMENT, TALENT SHOW, A PERSON WHO DOES GLITTER TATTOOS, LOCAL POLICE MAKING CHILD SAFETY IDS, A DJ, RAFFLES AND FOOD TO PURCHASE. AN ESTIMATED 150 FAMILIES ATTEND THIS EVENT. ALTHOUGH IT IS A PTA FUNDED EVENT, IT IS JOINTLY RUN BY THE PTA VOLUNTEERS, TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF. THIS ACTIVITY BRINGS A CLOSER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL AND DEVELOPS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SCHOOL, AND OUTSIDE AGENCIES. BARE BOOKS: PTA SUPPLIES BLANK, BOUND, HARD COVER BOOKS TO THE 5 TH GRADE STUDENTS. BOOK SWAPS: OCCURS 2 TIMES A YEAR BEFORE SCHOOL BREAKS. PTA GETS DONATIONS OF GENTLY USED BOOKS FROM CURRENT AND FORMER FAMILIES AND STAFF. THEY SET UP TABLES IN A ROOM BY GRADE SO STUDENTS CAN COME IN WITH THEIR CLASSES TO CHOOSE A "NEW TO THEM" BOOK TO READ. FIELD DAY: STUDENTS PARTICIPATE WITH THEIR CLASS IN VARIOUS OUTDOOR GAMES AND ACTIVITIES CENTERED AROUND A THEME SUCH AS OLYMPICS. PTA PROVIDES VOLUNTEERS AND ICE POPS. FIFTH GRADE PICNIC: FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS ENJOY A PICNIC AND SWIMMING AT A LOCAL PARK PAVILION AND POOL WITH PAID LIFEGUARDS. THE PTA PAYS FOR THE RENTAL OF THE PAVILION, POOL AND LIFEGUARDS. THE PTA ALSO PROVIDES EACH FIFTH GRADE STUDENT WITH A CLASS T-SHIRT TO DESIGNED BY A STUDENT AND ICE POPS. FIFTH GRADE MOVING UP CEREMONY AND RECEPTION: THIS IS THE CEREMONY FOR STUDENTS GRADUATING FIFTH GRADE AND MOVING ON TO MIDDLE SCHOOL. THE PTA PROVIDES FRAMES FOR THE AWARDS, BOTTLED WATER AND SNACKS. HOMEWORK PLANNERS: THE PTA PROVIDES BOUND HOMEWORK PLANNERS TO EACH THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE STUDENT TO FACILITATE TIME MANAGEMENT AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT IS HELD IN ONCE IN THE FALL AND ONCE IN THE SPRING. WE ALSO HELD ONE IN FEBRUARY THIS YEAR THAT WAS FREE. STUDENTS GATHER IN THE SCHOOL GYM TO WATCH AN AGE APPROPRIATE MOVIE IN THE EVENING. THE PTA PURCHASES THE DVD THAT IS RAFFLED OFF AT THE EVENT, A MOVIE LICENSE TO LEGALLY SHOW THE MOVIE, BOTTLED WATER AND SNACKS. ART NATURE PHOTOS: PTA COVERS THE COST OF PRINTING PHOTOS OF EACH 5 TH GRADE STUDENT'S NATURE ART SCULPTURE. THE PHOTOS ARE GIVEN TO EACH STUDENT AS A KEEPSAKE. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS AND FAMILY NIGHT IS HELD THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. STUDENTS CAN PURCHASE BOOKS AND THE PROFITS GO BACK TO THE PTA TO SUPPORT OTHER PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. THIS EVENT PROMOTES LITERACY TO THE STUDENTS. THE FAMILY NIGHTS GIVE FAMILIES AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE BOOK FAIR ON THE EVENING, PLAY GAMES AND DO CRAFTS RELATED TO THE BOOK FAIR THEME. REFLECTIONS AWARDS CEREMONY IS HELD JOINTLY WITH OTHER DISTRICT PTAS. THE PTAS SPLIT THE COST OF AWARDS AND REFRESHMENTS FOR THE CEREMONY. HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE GIVES STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR IS AN ALL DAY EVENT WHERE THE PTA RECEIVES A PORTION OF THE SALES IF SHOPPERS PROVIDE THE CASHIER WITH A FUNDRAISING FLYER. IN THE EVENING, THE SCHOOL'S 5TH GRADE CHORUS, BAND AND ORCHESTRA PERFORM FOR THE COMMUNITY. A PARENT SET UP A TABLE TO PLAY LOTERIA (PICTURE BINGO) WITH CHILDREN AND WE HAD A CRAFT TABLE SET UP AS WELL AS STORYTIME. FAMILY DANCE NIGHT IS HELD IN THE SCHOOL GYM, GIVING FAMILIES AN OPPORTUNITY TO SOCIALIZE AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. THE PTA PROVIDES THE DJ, SNACKS AND BOTTLED WATER. FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT KICKS OFF THE SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR LEADING UP TO THE DISTRICT MATH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR. STUDENTS PRESENT THE SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS AND THE HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE VARIOUS SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS. THE PTA PROVIDES PRIZES FOR PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPLIES FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE DEMONSTRATIONS. GEMS: GIRLS EMPOWERED AND MOTIVATED TO SUCCEED IS A PROGRAM FOR 4TH AND 5TH GIRLS TO SUPPORT AND EMPOWER THEM AS THEY ENTER THE TWEEN YEARS.
