“A copy of the conflict of interest policy is given to the national board members and all national staff once each year and is also available year-round on our intranet and in the personnel policy manual. A conflict of interest disclosure statement is obtained annually from all national board members and all national staff who are currently serving the organization. When a conflict arises for any national board member, that national board member shall report it in writing to the chair of the ethics committee. When a conflict of interest arises for any national staff member, that staff member shall report it in writing to their direct supervisor and to the director of human resources. The potential conflict is then brought to the chair of the ethics committee. The ethics committee reviews each disclosure at a meeting convened for that purpose. The interested individual is not permitted to vote on the related matter, participate in or be present at the discussion.”
