The center owns and operates an ecumenical building located at 475 riverside drive in nyc. The 660,000 square foot building includes a includes a chapel, dining rooms, meeting space, library and a parking garage for use by the tenants.

To provide an office facility with a working environment that is conducive to ecumenism and interreligious involvement.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The members of the corporation shall consist of the persons who were members on january 1, 1979, such other persons as may be appointed to the membership as hereinafter provided, during the periods that the respective appointments of such appointed members are in full force and effect, and who have not ceased to be members by reason of death, resignation, or expulsion, as further provided in article iv of the corporation's by-laws.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

Each member of the corporation appointed as such by a beneficiary board shall be entitled to: (a) one vote as an appointee of a particular beneficiary board; and (b) one vote for each $2,000 of capital contributed to the corporation by the particular beneficiary board of which such member is the appointee. In all elections for trustees of the corporation each member shall be entitled to as many votes as shall equal the number of votes to which he or she would be entitled by virtue of section i of article vi of the by-laws multiplied by the number of trustees to be elected, and he or she may cast all such votes for a single trustee or may distribute them among the number to be voted for, or any two or more of them as he or she may see fit. The candidates, not exceeding the number of trustees to be elected, who receive the greatest number of votes shall be elected.

The board of trustees is responsible for the property and affairs of the corporation. The beneficiary board members are responsible for the by laws, election of the board of trustees, and approval of the annual budget.
