Activity 2

ADULT SERVICES Hudson Guild's Adult Services helps older adults live in independence and dignity. Through programs at the Fulton Center and the Elliott Center, the Guild provides seniors with:-Nutrition: Each weekday, 165 seniors receive hot breakfasts and lunches at Fulton Center. Seniors also receive coupons to redeem for produce at local Greenmarkets, participate in nutrition workshops, and take part in intergenerational cooking classes with teens from the Guild's youth program.-Social Services Unit: The Social Services Unit (SSU) provides case assistance and case management to 120 seniors as needed and another 40 receive intensive, one-on-one case management. Additional SSU services include weekly support groups, Medicaid Part D plan education and enrollment assistance, help with applications to entitlement and stipendiary programs, legal and housing services, walk-in hours, and increasingly, assistance with job searches and applications. Last year, the SSU referred 33 participants to foundations that grant stipends to help seniors meet their monthly bills.-Enrichment Activities: Participating in activities helps reduce the incidence of isolation and depression. On average, 200 seniors participate daily in a variety of Center activities, including arts appreciation, beginning computer, creative writing, chair aerobics, crafts, tai-chi, painting, yoga, creating art collages, a walking club and qi gong.-Elliott-Chelsea NORC: Hudson Guild provides Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) supportive services to 200 seniors living in Elliott-Chelsea Houses. These seniors receive social, recreational, and physical and mental health-related support to help them age-in-place. A new visiting nurse practitioner and recent partnerships with a mobile dental clinic and a cardiovascular medical group have increased the range of health workshops offered to participants.

Activity 3

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICESWith a staff of eight social workers and two consulting psychiatrists, Hudson Guild's licensed, sliding-scale clinic provides approximately 5,230 sessions every year. Programs include: -Geriatric Mental Health Initiative: Working with Adult Services, Mental Health staff work to reduce the number of seniors suffering from depression, anxiety and isolation. -School-Based Mental Health Initiative: Licensed with the New York State Office of Mental Health, Guild staff provides group mental health services for youth enrolled at the James Baldwin High School and P.S. 63 (The William McKinley School).-ASPIRE helps 40 teens who have significant difficulties functioning because of behavioral problems. Their participation supports their continued positive involvement in Teen Services programming. -SRO Resident Services: Through a partnership with the Clinton Housing Corporation, Hudson Guild provides case management services for up to 140 mentally ill, elderly and previously homeless clients living in four Single Room Occupancy (SRO) locations on the West Side of Manhattan.
