Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Association is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. However, income from activities not directly related to the Associations tax-exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. In addition, the Association has been classified as an entity that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code.During the year ended June 30, 2011, the Association adopted the authoritative guidance relating to uncertainty in income taxes included in ASC Topic Income Taxes. These provisions provide consistent guidance for the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entitys financial statements and prescribe a threshold of more likely than not for recognition and de-recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. The Association performed an evaluation of uncertain tax positions for the years ended June 30, 2017 and 2016, and determined that there were no material matters that would require recognition in the financial statements or that may have an effect on its tax-exempt status. As of June 30, 2017, the statute of limitations for the Form 990 for the tax years 2013-2015 remains open with the Internal Revenue Service. It is the Associations policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertain tax positions, if any, in income tax expense.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Association is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code.
