“Compensation for the CEO/COO Director at its inception was determined by what the annual budget could support while allowing the the hiring of second professional ethicist as its Associate Director as it functioned under a spartan operating expense budget. Shortly thereafter, salaries of comparable position with comparable professional qualifications were reviewed both regionally and nationally. The results of the review revealed the CEO/COO Director's compensation as well as that of the Associate Director's compensation were significantly below the standard of the industry. | IRS990/Desc | 0 | The Minnesota Center for Health Care Ethics' (MCHCE) major program service was its service to its sponsoring organization in the form of education, consultation, internal policy formation and leadership in health care ethics focused on five areas of special importance to its sponsoring organization: 1) diverse faith and cultural perspectives 2) health care reform 3) end of life care and dementia 4) emerging technologies 5) public health and disaster ethics. In addition, MCHCE completed a contract with another Minnesota nonprofit organization, Honoring Choices, to lead the process of revising the Honoring Choices Minnesota Health Care Directive (the de facto advance health care directive for the state of Minnesota). This work was heavily tied to two areas of special importance to MCHCE's sponsoring organization - diverse faith and cultural perspectives and end of life care and dementia. MCHCE received funding from the Minnesota Department of Human Services as part of an age friendly Minnesota grant to conduct an ethics needs assessment of the Assisted Living landscape in the state and make recommendations to the Human Services Commissioner about ways to increase health care ethics resourcing across the state. |
