The Community Garden was established with a multi-purpose agenda. We wanted to promote inter-generational interaction, nutritional benefits and education including the importance of recycling and composting. The community has come together and the youth are learning to produce and nurture both flowers and vegetables promoting healthy living. Included in the garden is a meditation area that promotes peace and tranquility. It has given youth a place to exert energy and learn the importance of community service. This has thus far benefited over 500 participants. Organized an Earth Day parade to encourage the community to Recycle, Reuse and Reduce with a campaign to remind the community that every day is Earth Day.$0$15,000
Initially promoted by the youth in the community Summer Fun Day highlights the importance of community, brings families and friends together, has introduced a renaissance youth musical/STEM and music group and Bomba music to the community and celebrated the diversity and sensitivity needed to co-exist. This day promotes the importance of volunteerism within a community. This event has served over 600 people in the community. Included in this was participation from the local high school and Veterans Group.$0$5,000
We have promoted social change by initiating writing workshops, written word programs, painting workshops and various arts and crafts. Our efforts allowed us to highlight the work done by various members (youth and seniors) in an artisans event in the community garden. A presentation was held highlighting writing efforts. This has served over 100 participants. Also had various planting workshops with local schools. Discussed aspects of business startup and marketing. Business plan presentations were role played.$0$2,000
