Form 990 governing body review Part VI line 11

Upon completion of the 990 by independent accountant, a copy is given to the executive director for review and approval. The executive director upon receipt of the tax form then schedules a meeting with members of the organizations board of directors to review the form. Questions if any are then presented to the accountantfor clarification. Upon satisfactory clarification of all questions, the 990 is approved by the board members and the accountant is instructed to finalize the return.

The issue of whether a conflict of interest exist is routinely considered during board meetings when the board is engaged in discussion relating to activities conducted by the organization, entering into a contract, hiring personnel, etc.

THE PURPOSE OF THE MEETINGS WAS TO DISCOURAGE GUN VIOLENCE AND GANG PREVENTION ACTIVITIES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO ADMINISTERED A CONFERENCE AND CONVENTION WORKSHOP AND AWARDS CEREMONY IN WHICH OVER 400 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED THROUGH THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM, TEN YOUTHS WERE PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS DEVELOPMENT. They learned essential workplace skillssuch as teamwork, communication, and time managementwhile inspiring younger students. The program serves as a workforce pipeline, equipping young adults with the skills, discipline, and confidence to succeed in future careers.
