Primary Exempt Purpose The Somers Land Trust SLT is dedicated to preserving open space in the Town of Somers, NY. Together with the Westchester Land Trust, SLT holds a number of conservation easements throughout Somers. SLT promotes environmentally sensitive planning and assisted with the purchase of the 654-acre Angle Fly Preserve. SLT has been given stewardship responsibility for Angle Fly Preserve which is jointly owned by Somers, the County of Westchester and New York City.

Somers Land Trust SLT, an all volunteer organization, has leveraged the generosity of community volunteers, organizations and local businesses to execute its programs with minimal cash expenditures. Examples of SLT program achievements accomplished with volunteer and in-kind contributions include the creation of a 10-mile trail system trail improvments such as kiosks, benches, bridges and viewing platforms forest management a conservation rain garden several plantings of native trees along riparian corridor pond dredging and aeration system and the exterior restoration/rebuilding of an 18th century farmhouse, including foundation, in preparation for its interior restoration and eventual occupation by a caretaker for the Angle Fly Preserve.
