“The executive director, director of development and communications, director of law and policy, director of finance and operations, board audit and finance committee members receive a draft copy of the form 990 for review. Once they have reviewed the document and have signed off the final copy, that draft is forwarded to the remaining board member via email. Confirmation of delivery is returned to the company and the members are given an opportunity to ask questions and make edits. Once the deadline for edits have passed, the form 990 is signed and filed with the internal revenue service.”

Salary surveys, b. Employees compensation, disclosed in form 990s, from comparable organizations; c. Job postings and salary requirements posted for similar positions. 2. The executive officer will review the compensation package for the key officers on an annual basis. 3. The committee and/or director of finance and operations will keep notes of all meetings and decisions.”

Since 1993, we've provided life-changing free legal help to over 45,000 women and children and we've pursued policies that have bettered the experiences and outcomes for hundreds of thousands more. We accomplish our work through our two-pronged approach: 1) providing free legal services in the areas of family, matrimonial, and immigration law so women have the power of an excellent attorney at their side; and 2) advocating for policies that improve the system for women like our clients and all new yorkers. In fy2024, 13 staff attorneys trained and mentored 1,484 volunteers who donated 49,511 hours. Together, we served 3,698 women and children and unlocked $45,245,909 in value from the private sector that we invested into our communities and the civil justice system. We offer a variety of legal services, ranging from advice & council to full representation in family, divorce, and immigration matters to address the needs of new york city women, especially survivors of intimate partner violence and immigrants isolated by language and culture. We also work with community-based organizations throughout the city and state to deliver know-your-rights information sessions and capacity-building trainings. Our four areas of policy focus align with the core areas of our direct services: immigration, child support, divorce, and intimate partner violence.
