“Land purchases is recorded at cost. Improvements on land are valued at cost and depreciatied over the estimated life of the asset unless deemed not to add market value. Consistant with its conservation mission, bvlt assumes land purchased will be conserved and its market value may be impared to reflect its conserved value. Bvlt has impared one 287 acre parcel for its full value of 201,460 because the organization intends to hold this parcel in perpetuity. Realized gains and losses on natural land areas and improvements, if any, are recorded upon distribution.”
