Professional conventions held included the ncs conference and rueben awards, comic-con and other meetings. Each year a recipient is chosen to receive the reuben award for the outstanding cartoonist of the year. Awards are also presented for individual categories including advertising and product illustration, art for animated media, book illustration, comic book, editorial cartoon, gag cartoon, graphic novel, magazine and newspaper illustration, newspaper comic strip, newspaper panel cartoon, online comic long-form, online comic short-form, variety entertainment.”
