Community Impact is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to serving disadvantaged people in the Morningside Heights, Harlem, and Washington Heights communities. Community Impact strives to advance the public good by fostering meaningful opportunities for students, staff, and faculty of Columbia University in order to provide high-quality programs and instill the importance of life-long service.

A form 990 draft is sent to the audit committee as well as to the board. Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the executive director. After approval, the form 990 is filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Over the years community impact has adopted a number of policy statements on various aspects of conflict of interest as part of columbia university and as its own 501(c)3. Conflict of interest disclosure statements are signed by board members annually acknowledging the statement of university policy on conflicts of interest issued by the university's administration as well as community impact's. Annually conflict of interest statements are collected and reviewed by the department administrator/comptroller along with the executive director of the organization. If any conflict of interest exist this is brought to the attention of the executive committee, most importantly the board chairs. The executive committee will review the disclosure statements and determine what action is necessary, or request additional information. Based on the nature of the interest, the committee will choose to manage, reduce or eliminate the interest. The committee may also hire a third party to oversee part of the process that deals with the specific matter.

The compensation of the organization's executive director and top management is reviewed by the board of directors by comparing the compensation to columbia university's grade system. The process was last conducted in 2019.
