Activity 2

Homeless, prevention, and relocation services: the three family shelters operated by bronxworks provided temporary housing for approximately 350 families with about 1,000 persons throughout the 2013 program year (july 2012 to june 2013). Housing placement staff at the shelters found permanent housing for over 200 families with over 575 persons. An additional 120 previously homeless persons resided in a building that provides supportive housing, while 86 chronically street homeless persons were placed into permanent housing. Another 75 were placed into transitional housing. These efforts resulted in a 72 percent decline in street homelessness in the bronx between 2005 and 2013.eviction prevention and housing counseling programs helped nearly 5,400 households with about 13,000 persons remain in permanent housing in the 2013 program year. The family eviction prevention supplement (feps), homebase, and hpd section 8 programs accounted for the lions share of this assistance, helping over 3,900 households remain in permanent housing. Through the efforts of these programs, bronx landlords received over $10 million in rent arrears payments.

Activity 3

Aids and workforce program:over 121,000 meals were supplied to individuals with chronic health conditions or adults who were previously living on the street. The majority of those with a chronic health condition have hiv/aids, while at least 10 to 15 percent of the previously homeless adults have been diagnosed with it. Over 700 people living with hiv/aids received case management, individual and group counseling, nutrition education, financial planning, and family support services in the reporting period. Over 90 people with hiv/aids were placed into permanent housing during the time period.workforce development programs placed 365 persons in jobs in the reporting period, including 159 non-custodial fathers who were previously unemployed and not paying child support. Another 159 adults who were long-term jobless public housing residents obtained employment via bronxworks. Over 600 youth ages 14 to 24, including about 120 who were previously disconnected from educational or employment opportunities, secured jobs or internships through bronxworks. Career plans were developed for over 350 persons.
