IRS990/Description0Grants from the Development Fund to Foundation and its affiliates, totaling $127,600 helped support national drug and alcohol abuse, prevention, and education programs. The Fund also supported Foundation's research agenda and public education initiatives and over 150 programs of Foundation regional affiliates with a total treatment population of more than 7,000. These programs include residential high schools for adolescents, comprehensive rehabilitation centers for adults, day schools, after school programs, day and night outpatient programs, and special programs for mothers with small children, the homeless, and the mentally ill. Programs of Foundation and its affiliates also offer medical and dental care and vocational training to clients in treatment, work with drug courts for adults and adolescents, and provide treatment in correctional facilities and post-incarceration community treatment and aftercare centers.

The standard clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, including issues relating to financial statement recognition and measurement. This standard provides that the tax effects from an uncertain tax position can be recognized in the financial statements only if the position is "more-likely-than-not" to be sustained if the position were to be challenged by a taxing authority. The standard also provides guidance on measurement, classification, interest and penalties, and disclosure. It was effective for Phoenix House Foundation, Inc. on July 1, 2008, and had no impact on the accompanying financial statements. The tax years ended 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 are still open to audit for both federal and state purposes. Phoenix House Foundation, Inc. has processes presently in place to ensure the maintenance of its tax-exempt status; to identify and report unrelated income; to determine its filing and tax obligations in jurisdictions for which it has nexus; and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax positions.
