The center is responsible for meeting the challenges and opportunities of building a shared society in the most diverse city in the world. Its initiatives, including leadership development fellowships, quality of life issue-based coalitions, conflict resolution and crisis management are an integral part of the organization's approach to confronting hate and antisemitism in new york city. The center is likewise deeply engaged in the worlds of social justice and connecting the city's diverse jewish communities to the issues and communal challenges that are central to our community and to those with whom we share our neighborhoods.”

“The community security initiative (csi) was established in 2019 by uja-federation of new york and jcrc-ny. This program serves to protect and enhance the security for jewish communities and institutions in new york state, covering areas all the way from montauk to albany. The greater new york city metro area jewish community is home to approximately 1.7 million jews, the largest jewish population outside israel, and 2,500 jewish institutions, including synagogues, schools, and camps. Csi enhances security in 7 primary ways: (1) coordinating with local law enforcement to protect jewish institutions; (2) tracking threats to the community via threat intelligence analysts; (3) responding to antisemitic incidents in our region; (4) enhancing the physical security of every jewish institution in the region; (5) providing synagogues, schools, jewish community centers, and camp staff with active threat shooter and other training; (6) providing physical security assessments to enable applications for federal and state grants; and (7) supplying a real time communications system that links the jewish institutions in our region as part of an emergency communications system.”
