Mission

Greater centennial homes housing development fund company, inc., (the "project") was incorporated in july 1981, as a not-for-profit corporation, incorporated under the laws of the state of new york. (for continuation of mission statement - see schedule o). The project is sponsored by the greater centennial a.m.e. Zion church of the city of mount vernon. The principal purpose of the project is to provide housing for low and moderate income families and to demonstrate a continuing commitment to managing and preserving a viable source of quality affordable housing in mt. Vernon.

The organization contracts an unrelated management services corporation, the wavecrest management team, ltd., to provide management services and operate the property held by the project. No current or former officer, director, or key employee was compensated by the management company during the tax year. The management company was paid $144,660 for services provided to the organization during fiscal year 2020.

The organization has its form 990 prepared by an outside accounting firm and has established the following review process to ensure that the information reported is complete and accurate. When the form 990 has been prepared, reviewed by management and is ready to be filed with the internal revenue service, it is electronically sent to the managing agent, and board members of the organization for any comments. Any comments are then grouped, summarized and provided to the outside accountants. All comments are addressed before the return is finalized and approved for filing.

The organization holds security deposits from tenants in an escrow account. These deposits are returned to the tenant once they move out of the apartment.

PART X, LINE 2:

The entity recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not to be sustained. Management has determined that the entity had no uncertain tax positions that would require financial statement recognition or disclosure. The entity is no longer subject to examinations by the applicable taxing jurisdictions for periods prior to june 30, 2017.
