IRS990/Desc0START Treatment and Recovery Centers (START) maintains the highest standard of national accreditation from CARF since the inception of accreditation standards for Opioid agonist treatment programs. Indeed, START has been determined to be among the top 3% of substance abuse treatment providers nationwide. With a population of approximately 4,000 patients, START maintained its census at 94% of its licensed capacity for methadone maintenance treatment, far in excess of the statewide average. Additionally, based upon the needs, desires and satisfaction of its patients, the agency provided HIV prevention and primary care and general primary care over 30% of its patients. To support the provision for the highest caliber of health care, several capital improvements were made. START provided 589,240 services (dispensing, counseling and primary care) to 3,942 patients in 2013. Corporate wide outcomes in treatment of chronic conditions of suppression of HIV/AIDS, diabetes and hypertension generally exceeded or met national standards. At least 76% of START patients were free of illicit opiates with greater success the longer the patient remains in treatment beyond one year. As patient satisfaction is critical to START, the agency once again conducted a patient satisfaction survey. A 35% random sample of our patients corporate-wide revealed an 87% return rate with 86% of responders stating that they would recommend START to others for substance abuse treatment.
