Activity 2

Agriculture: lwr focuses on increasing small-scale farmers' capacities and competiveness as the most effective means for addressing household, community, national and global poverty. Small-scale producers face a range of challenges to their economic advancement, including lack of access to inputs like tools and seeds, limited participation in value chains, exclusion from markets, limited capacity for collective action and changing climatic conditions. Lwr funded approximately 80 agriculture projects during the year.

Activity 3

Climate change: lwr helps communities build their resilience to shifting weather patterns (adaptation) and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation). Adaptation strategies focus on improving land use and natural resource management, as well as on building community capacity for disaster risk reduction. Mitigation approaches include projects designed to sequester carbon and to reduce carbon emissions, such as reforestation or promotion of clean energy technologies. These strategies and approaches were present in approximately 45 of lwr's projects implemented during the reporting period.
