“The metropolitan funeral directors association, inc. (mfda) is a professional trade association, which represents approximately 200 corporate and independent funeral establishments. In addition to providing traditional association services, mfda also provides consumers with information on funeral planning. The mfda offers continuing education seminars for funeral directors, publishes a monthly newsletter, maintains a website, hosts an annual golf and tennis outing and assits members with issues relating to the funeral industry. Members of the mfda serve as volunteers during multiple disasters, offering bereavement and administrative support. Members helped government agencies responding to the world trade center disaster and the association serves as an information provider regarding funeral benefits. The assocaition continues to be an advocate of the electronic death registration system that will provide improved costomer service for funeral homes and bereaved families currently being implemented by the new york city departmemt of health and mental hygiene.”

THE MFDA OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION SEMINARS FOR FUNERAL DIRECTORS, PUBLISHES A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, MAINTAINS A WEBSITE, HOSTS AN ANNUAL GOLF AND TENNIS OUTING AND ASSITS MEMBERS WITH ISSUES RELATING TO THE FUNERAL INDUSTRY. MEMBERS OF THE MFDA SERVE AS VOLUNTEERS DURING MULTIPLE DISASTERS, OFFERING BEREAVEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT. MEMBERS HELPED GOVERNMENT AGENCIES RESPONDING TO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER DISASTER AND THE ASSOCIATION SERVES AS AN INFORMATION PROVIDER REGARDING FUNERAL BENEFITS. THE ASSOCAITION CONTINUES TO BE AN ADVOCATE OF THE ELECTRONIC DEATH REGISTRATION SYSTEM THAT WILL PROVIDE IMPROVED COSTOMER SERVICE FOR FUNERAL HOMES AND BEREAVED FAMILIES CURRENTLY BEING IMPLEMENTED BY THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMEMT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE. |
