“The society has elected not to capitalize its museum collection since contributed items are not used for financial gain, but held for educational purposes, public exhibition, or public service research. The assets from the contributions are preserved, protected, cared for and are never encumbered. Mbsi has a policy requiring that if the assets are sold, the proceeds from the sale will be used to acquire other collection assets.”

“The collection contains various mechanical instruments which have been displayed in temporary exhibits in various museums. Some of the instruments are held in storage for future generations and preservation.”
