Mission

To facilitate and support programs that produce positive change for children and families throughout southern california by providing educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey and addressing the health and wellness needs of our community.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Provides grants and support to a variety of public charities in the orange county area that have missions that are committed to enhancing lives through improving the education, wellness and health of children and families in the orange county area:boys & girls clubs of anaheim: the boys & girls clubs of anaheim is open seven days per week and offers a broad range of programs and services for children ages 5-18. The club offers national programs in five core areas, as well as, special interest programs and outreach to children in need. Most importantly, the club offers a "safe haven" for kids, off of the streets, where they can interact with peers and positive mentors. This grant went toward support of the priority neighborhood outreach program to expand services to children in geographic areas that previously had not been reached by the clubs' facilities.santa margarita catholic high school: the anaheim ducks launched the anaheim ducks high school hockey league, a program designed to introduce varsity hockey to southern california in 2008. Santa margarita high school joined the league in 2009 and won the 2013 varsity national championship. Funds raised were used to support the santa margarita high school hockey teams' expenses.choc foundation for children: children's hospital of orange county (choc children's) is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to its patients. Funds raised were applied to complete a pledge toward a new fitness center room on the expanded pediatric oncology floor of choc children's bill holmes tower, which opened in 2013. The anaheim ducks fitness center contains equipment that children will be able to use for physical therapy, and also available for parents and family members to utilize during long stays in the hospital.movember, inc.: during november each year, movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in the us and around the world. With their mo's, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. Funds raised were used to support u.s. Prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives through the organization's nonprofit health partners.the leukemia & lymphoma society: the mission of the leukemia & lymphoma society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Funds were used for general support of the programs of the organization, including research, support groups, financial assistance, education and advocacy.county of orange/oc animal care: oc animal care is an open-admission animal shelter that provides temporary shelter and medical care for lost, owned or stray animals, and opportunities for the adoption of these animals. Funds raised were used for general support of the shelter including general animal care, medical care, volunteer supplies and community outreach and education events.anaheim police survivors & scholarship fund: the anaheim police survivors' and scholarship fund assists the families of anaheim police officers injured or killed in the line of duty, provides college scholarships to children of anaheim police officers and memorializes anaheim police officers killed in the line of duty while serving the residents of anaheim. Funds were directed toward supporting the families of officers killed during a specific southern california incident in early 2013.
Activity 3
The anaheim ducks learn to play program is offered at six of the rinks: westminster ice, yorba linda ice, lakewood ice, corona inline, huntington beach inline and irvine inline. Learn to play offers first-time youth and adult hockey players the chance to get on the rink in full hockey equipment for free. Participants receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly.the goals of learn to play are to introduce children and adults to either ice or inline hockey, to provide first-hand experience to enjoy the sport, and to create a system to attract more participants into leagues, teams and programs. The foundation has also supported the improvement and enhancement of youth hockey facilities and programs.
