Activity 2

The rx democracy campaign supports physicians to provide non-partisan voter education materials to patients in their clinical work settings, including professionally desiged get-out-the vote-posters. The campaign is intended to increase the civic engagement of physicians and their patients and has supported efforts to conduct non-partisan voter registration drives in or around teaching hospitals in seven states. The campaign has produced a 3-part webinar series in partnership with the non-partisan brennan center for justice on health and civic and voter participation that was attended by nearly 40 clinicians, and has launched a non-partisan petition encouraging hospitals to support voter registration. More than 300 health care providers nationwide have joined this campaign to promote non-partisan civic engagement resources in health care settings.

Activity 3

The unbranded doctor campaign encourages physicians to recognize and challenge the undue influence of pharmaceutical marketing practices on medical education, research, practice and training environments. This campaign provides educational resources regarding the scope and nature of pharmaceutical marketing and is developing programming to expand public outreach on these issues through rich online resources and the cultivation of an online community of 450 physicians dedicated to this issue. The unbranded doctor campaign has led many member physicians to voluntarily reduce their dealings with pharmaceutical sales representatives.
