Dominican village, founded and sponsored by the sisters of st. Dominic of amityville, new york, is a non-for-profit, non-sectarian rental retirement community and assisted living residence. Its mission is to provide a supportive environment in which the sacredness of life and the dignity of each person are held in the highest regard and to offer its residents a choice of programs and services which foster independence, promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and maximize opportunities for socialization.
A housing facility for persons who, because of age, illness or infirmity require additional support services in order to maintain an independent high quality of life pursuant to the rules and regulations now or hereafter adopted for "enhanced housing" programs in the state of new york or who require assisted living services; and to serve people of limited income or to otherwise provide housing, food, and essential services to persons in need. There are 66 units available for assisted living residents and 200 apartments for independent living residents.
