Mission

The mission of the ronald mcdonald house of long island is TO OFFER COMFORT AND SHELTER TO FAMILIES EXPERIENCING THE PAIN OF HAVING A SICK CHILD IN LOCAL HOSPITAL FACILITIES. A "HOME AWAY FROM HOME", THE HOUSE PROVIDES PARENTS & SIBLINGS OF THESE CHILDREN WITH A TEMPORARY HAVEN IN A SECURE AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT AMONG OTHER FAMILIES SHARING A SIMILAR BURDEN.

To offer comfort, shelter and programming to families experiencing the pain of having a sick child admitted or being treated at local hospitals.

The ronald mcdonald house of long island, inc. Will distribute the draft of form 990 via email to the board for their review and approval. Board members will respond back with any questions or comments which will then be considered in the final filed copy.

The conflict of interest policy is signed each year by all board members and it is strictly enforced. Board members are required to disclose all conflicts they may have.

THE PROCESS IS INDICATED ON RMH'S "DETERMINING COMPENSATION POLICY" AS FOLLOWS: THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SHALL RECOMMEND TO THE BOARD THE COMPENSATION FOR THE president. Financial Statement Notes

Part V, Line 4: Intended uses of the endowment fund.

Before raymond albert kroc, owner of mcdonald's, passed away in 1984, he set aside money for all of the ronald mcdonald houses in the united states. The house opened in 1986 and was the 100th house in the ronald mcdonald house corporate system. His estate donated $500,000 to the house, which is permanently restricted. As the endowment agreement is silent as to the house's ability to utilize the corpus of the endowment, new york state law governs the endowment. As a result, the house maintains the full $500,000 as permanently restricted funds. At all times the house is required to segregate the donation in a separate investment account, and only the related investment income can be used for operations.

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The house has determined that there are no material uncertain tax positions that require recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The house's form 990, "return of ogranization exempt from income tax" for the years ended 2013 and subsequent remain subject to examination by the applicable taxing authorities.

THE HOUSE IS OUTFITTED WITH TWO ROOMS FOR THIS USE. FAMILIES WHO STAY NEARBY ARE WELCOMED TO THE HOUSE TO SPEND THEIR DAYS, ENJOY MEALS, AND RELAX WITH OTHER FAMILIES. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION RUNS A RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM WHICH SUPPORTS FAMILIES THROUGH RESPITE SPACE WITHIN THE HOSPITAL.
