“Membership is open to all persons actively engaged in the planning and management of meetings and related activities for business and industry, trade associations and professional societies, church and religious organizations, educational institutions, fraternal groups, labor unions, and entrepreneurs. Ncbmp has four classes of voting members: 1) planner member, 2) supplier member, 3) student member, 4) faculty member. 1) planner member: open to those persons, with at least one year of experience, who are actively engaged in planning meetings on a national, regional or local level. Planner members shall be eligible to serve on the board of directors. 2) supplier member: open to any individual of a firm or corporation, or organization actively engaged in the meetings/hospitality - related industry and who is interest in promoting the purpose of ncbmp. Supplier members shall be eligible to serve on the board of directors. 3) student member: open to individuals enrolled full- time in a post secondary academic program, with emphasis in meetings/hospitality - related industries leading to qualification as a planner or supplier member. Students renewing their membership must re-qualify each year. 4) faculty member: open to individuals employed as full time faculty in post-secondary academic programs directly related to meeting planning/hospitality-related industries. Faculty members shall be eligible to serve on the board of directors.”

“The form 990 is prepared by an independent accounting firm and then reviewed by the treasurer. A copy of the form 990 is provided to the governing body prior to filing with the internal revenue service.”

“The conflict of interest policy applies to any director, principal officer, or member of a committee with governing board delegated powers. In connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, an interested person must disclose the existence of a possible conflict to the board or executive committee. After disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts, and after any discussion with the interested person, he/she shall leave the board or executive committee meeting while the determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining board or executive committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. If the board or executive committee members has reasonable cause to believe a member has failed to disclose actual or possible conflicts of interest, it shall inform the member of the basis for such belief and afford the member an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose. If, after hearing the member's response and after making further investigation as warranted by the circumstances, the board or executive committee determines the member has failed to disclose an actual or possible conflict of interest, it shall take appropriate disciplinary and corrective action.”
