Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Met council may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. Tax positions include the tax-exempt status of met council, among others. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by met council and has concluded that, as of the years ended june 30, 2024 and 2023, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. Met council files annual form 990s, return of organization exempt from income tax, with the internal revenue service (the "irs"). Met council's federal and state informational returns prior to fiscal year 2021 are closed and management continually evaluates expiring statutes of limitations, audits, proposed settlements, changes in tax law and new authoritative rulings. Met council did not recognize any interest and penalties associated with tax matters for the years ended june 30, 2024 and 2023.
