Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The institute is exempt from federal income taxes under the provisions of section 501(c)(5) of the internal revenue code. The institute follows the guidance of accounting standards codification (asc) 740, accounting for income taxes (asc 740), related to uncertainties in income taxes, which prescribes a threshold of more likely than not for recognition and derecognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. There are no such uncertain tax positions for the institute for the year ended december 31, 2024. The institute files an annual form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, with the internal revenue service (irs). At december 31, 2024, the institute's form 990s for the years 2021 through 2024 remain eligible for examination by the irs.
