FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The board of directors assumes responsibility for oversight of the independent audit of its financial statements. The process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The fire company is exempt from federal income taxes under irs section 501(c)(3) as well as state and local property and sales taxes. The fire company has filed form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, in compliance with internal revenue service requirements. The fire company accounts for the effect of any uncertain tax positions based on a "more-likely-than-not" threshold to the recognition of the tax positions being sustained based on the technical merits of the position under scrutiny by the applicable taxing authority. If a tax position or positions are deemed to result in uncertainties of those positions, the unrecognized tax benefit is estimated based on a "cumulative probability assessment" that aggregates the estimated tax liability for all uncertain tax positions. Interest and penalties assessed, if any, are accrued as income tax expense. The fire company has identified its tax status as a tax exempt entity as a tax position; however, the fire company has determined that such tax position does not result in an uncertainty requiring recognition. The fire company is not currently under examination by any tax jurisdiction. Federal and state information returns are generally open for examination for three years.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE FIRE COMPANY IS EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAXES UNDER IRS SECTION 501(C)(3) AS WELL AS STATE AND LOCAL PROPERTY AND SALES TAXES.
