Mission

The mission of NYSARC INC. - NASSAU COUNTY CHAPTER ("AHRC-Nassau") is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live self-directed lives. This is accomplished by teaching, supporting and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to make life choices, exercise independence and develop responsibilities. AHRC-Nassau encourages all individuals to fulfill their dreams and become productive members of the community.

NYSARC, Inc. - NASSAU COUNTY CHAPTER ("AHRC-Nassau"), in partnership with family members, is committed to enriching the lives of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

NYSARC, Inc. - Nassau County Chapter ("AHRC-Nassau") is one of fifty-four New York State county chapters of NYSARC, Inc. NYSARC, Inc. is a membership corporation formed in 1949 for all county chapters. AHRC-Nassau is governed by its own Board of Directors, which is responsible for its operations operating under guidelines promulgated by NYSARC, Inc. AHRC-Nassau provides residential, day habilitation, vocational and other services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in Nassau County, New York.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

- Members in good standing of AHRC-Nassau's governing body elect members of the Board of Directors at their annual meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7B

Members of AHRC-Nassau's governing body have the authority to approve changes to AHRC Nassau's by-laws. Any changes to the AHRC-Nassau by-laws approved by AHRC-Nassau Board members are also subject to approval by the AHRC-Nassau membership at a special meeting called for such purpose and by the Board of Governors of NYSARC, Inc.

The Form 990 is prepared by AHRC-Nassau finance department personnel and is reviewed by independent accountants. The Form 990 is provided to the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of the AHRC-Nassau Board of Directors prior to filing.

- The organization monitors its conflict of interest policy. All officers, directors or trustees, and/or key employees are required to confirm their compliance annually in writing. Any statements with disclosures are reviewed by the Corporate Compliance Committee of the AHRC-Nassau Board of Directors.
