Financial Statement Notes

PART IV, LINE 2B:

Residents' funds are held by the home on behalf of the residents. Such funds represent allowances received by residents as well as other residents' funds deposited with the home for safekeeping. The funds are disbursed by the home at the request of, or on behalf of residents for their personal use.

PART V, LINE 4:

To provide the greatest level of support for operating expenses and capital maintenance of the home consistent with the preservation of purchasing power of the endowment. To balance the current and future needs for operating and maintenance support, the home seeks to maintain or enhance the real (inflation-adjusted) purchasing power of the endowment, net of payments pursuant to its spending policy. This objective leads to an equity-oriented investment strategy, which in turn implies that the total market value and amount available to support the home's operations will fluctuate from year to year.

PART X, LINE 2:

The home recognizes the effect of income tax positions only when those positions are more likely than not to be sustained. Management is not aware of any violation of its tax status as an organization exempt from income taxes, nor of any exposure to unrelated business income tax. The home has timely filed annually its form 990 in accordance with requirements of the internal revenue service. The home is no longer subject to examinations by the applicable taxing jurisdictions for the periods prior to 2020.
