Activity 2

Forestdale fathering initiative - the purpose of forestdale's fathering initiative is to prepare men to lovingly engage with their children, support their family financially, and develop healthy and respectful relationships with their children's mothers. The heart of the initiative is a 12-week course that blends intensive parenting skills with referrals to continuing education and job training programs. Additional services include anger management groups and co-parenting counseling.

Activity 3

Youth development: provide ample support for youth to make positive choices for their lives. Our youth development department engages over 150 people ages 12-21 in a variety of activities, including afterschool arts and cooking workshops, cultural excursions, and a weekend mentoring program. We provide educational advocacy for every youth, including high school and college admissions counseling, tutoring and college tours. For older youth, career focus is a workforce readiness program that hones critical job search and workplace skills, while engaging young people in a process of reflection and goal-setting. In fy 2013, accomplishments included:- 71% of high school seniors graduated (vs. 50& of foster youth nationally)- 58% of high school graduates enrolled in college (vs. 15% of foster youth nationally)- 32 forestdale youth are currently enrolled as full-time college students
