Our mission is to increase healthy behaviors by residents of northern new york state in order to decrease the incidence of cardiac disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases and their risk factors in the region. The mission statement shared in printed materials today say that "our mission is to design, develop, and implement strategies to decrease the incidence of cardiac disease, stroke, and related chronic illness in northern new york state."

We continued our efforts to build a chronic disease prevention system that has the capacity to support regular, ongoing delivery of evidence-based chronic disease prevention programs across seven counties in rural, upstate new york. We also continued implementation of our tobacco cessation and childhood obesity prevention programs. Of note, we engaged with 29 north country healthcare provider organizations to facilitate establishment and/or improvement of their nicotine cessation treatment protocols; supported 7 rural school districts and 6 early childhood education programs to implement policies, plans, and programs designed to increase youth access to nutritious foods and/or opportunities for recreational activities; helped 4 community sites to improve their ability to offer nutritious food options to the people they serve; assisted 6 municipalities with efforts to make their communities more pedestrian friendly; maintained and promoted a website that facilitates enrollment in evidence-based chronic disease prevention and self-management education (cdpsme) programs; and led efforts of a network of 35+ health and social care organizations across a 7 county region to implement our revenue development plan; marketing and communications plan; and conduct a search for a program scheduling and participant tracking platform. We entered into paid service agreements with 10 of our network partners to offer 34 cdpsme programs (versus 24 the prior year) and almost doubled program enrollment from 200 the prior year to 388.

The organization follows the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken, or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The organization has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the internal revenue service and state jurisdictions where it operates. The organization believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse affect on the organization's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the organization has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at june 30, 2024. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any income tax periods in progress. The organization believes it is no longer subject to income tax examinations for years prior to june 30, 2021. The organization's policy is to classify income tax related interest and penalties in interest expense and other expenses, respectively. There were no such expenses for the year ended june 30, 2024.

THE ORGANIZATION HAS ANALYZED TAX POSITIONS TAKEN FOR FILING WITH THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE AND STATE JURISDICTIONS WHERE IT OPERATES. THE ORGANIZATION BELIEVES THAT INCOME TAX FILING POSITIONS WILL BE SUSTAINED UPON EXAMINATION AND DOES NOT ANTICIPATE ANY ADJUSTMENTS THAT WOULD RESULT IN A MATERIAL ADVERSE AFFECT ON THE ORGANIZATION'S FINANCIAL CONDITION, RESULTS OF OPERATIONS OR CASH FLOWS. ACCORDINGLY, THE ORGANIZATION HAS NOT RECORDED ANY RESERVES, OR RELATED ACCRUALS FOR INTEREST AND PENALTIES FOR UNCERTAIN INCOME TAX POSITIONS AT JUNE 30, 2024. THE ORGANIZATION IS SUBJECT TO ROUTINE AUDITS BY TAXING JURISDICTIONS; HOWEVER, THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO AUDITS FOR ANY INCOME TAX PERIODS IN PROGRESS.
