Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Statement 1:

The Nathan Hale Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. Our focus is to assist troops and their families who face personal, professional and financial hardships. They made a commitment to us. We will make a commitment to them. Our One Life to Give program will operate on a number of different levels. It will be the medium through which the troops' stories can be told. It will be the medium through which the average American can make a difference in their lives. It will also work to develop relationships within the local business community. In this way we will advertise to the troops and the community, which companies were there for them when they needed it most. One of our future goals consists of building rehabiliation facilities in the vicinity of Veterans Administration hospitals throughout the country. Here, family members will be able to visit modern day patriots who have given so much for our country. We envision veterans, of all wars, utilizing the rehabilitation programs that will be available to them. We are looking for donations but we are also looking for volunteers and their resources. You need not be a veteran to be involved. Together, we will create an organization that will be unmatched in size and scope. We need to remind everyone that we live in the greatest country on the face of this earth. The opportunities that abound, for all Americans, are only possible through the commitment of our troops that defend our borders.

Form 990, Part XII, Line 2C:

There was no change to the oversight of the year end review or the selection process of the independent accountant.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The Foundation has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It does not believe it is subject to tax on unrelated business income (UBIT), and has not filed Federal or Massachusetts returns for UBIT. The Foundation believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse affect on the Foundation's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the Foundation has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at December 31, 2013.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Nathan Hale Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization.
