“The purpose of this foundation may include, not as a restriction or enlargement of such purposes, but as illustrative thereof, the aims of advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding of economics, matters of public concern, finance, education, job training, housing, human relations, problems of minority groups, science and technology, economic planning and development, international relations, and other subjects related to improve efficiency, development, and acceleration of both the quality and quantity of economic growth and employment opportunities in upstate south carolina, the following activities: 1. The undertaking of studies and research, compilation of the results, and publication thereof through any appropriate media; 2. The conducting of training courses, seminars, discussion groups, forums, panels, or lectures, and the like with various businesses and organizations in the upstate area; 3. Any activity which tends to promote understanding, unification, or improved relationships between differenct economic or ethnic groups, as the upstate continues to become a multi-cultural, multi-thnic urban area at significant proportions; and 4. Creation of special committees and task forces to study and deal with related issues facing upstate south carolina, whether it be economics, infrastructure issues, revitilization, cultural activities, acclimation to the upstate by various international groups, or discovery of resources offered by the upstate.”
