Program, which also offers free follow-ups with more books. Additionally, in books for babies, we have a prenatal project in which we give workshops and free children's books to pregnant women receiving care at community health centers. Through this project, we reach young families with important information and basic tools-books-even before their babies are born. In our second program-books for kids-we give more than 170,000 books, many through formal collaborations with other nonprofits already serving low-income and at risk families. We have 43 of these partnerships across connecticut, some of which call for delivery of thousands of books annually and workshops for families with young children in head start. Many of our clientele are bilingual spanish-english or monolingual spanish. Also through books for kids, in response to requests, we give and deliver free children's books to hundreds of teachers, doctors' offices, other health- care providers, home child-care providers, teachers, and other nonprofits, including other literacy agencies. Along with our small staff, we rely on a group of more than 60 regular and longtime volunteers who work in the partner hospitals and our office/warehouse.
