“College bound initiative (cbi): cbi is a comprehensive school-based college guidance program for single-sex and co-ed public schools that supports 6th through 12th grade students in achieving their college-going dreams. Cbi's goal is to raise parent and student expectations, create a school wide culture of success, increase student college enrollment rates, and secure critical financial aid to make higher education affordable. In fiscal year 2018, student leadership network supported the development and operation of cbi in thirty-four public schools in new york city. In the 19-20 school year, cbi served 16,137 students in grades 6-12. Demographically, 83% were eligible for free or reduce lunch; 59% were hispanic, 24% african american, 10% asian, 5% caucasian, and 2% other. For the class of 2020, cbi served 2,561 seniors, 91% of the graduates were accepted to college and plan to enroll. 67% were accepted to a 4-year college and 24% to 2-year colleges. Cbi participants graduating from our partner high schools enroll in four-year college degrees at nearly double the rate of their comparison group. For the class of 2020, cbi counselors generated $36.0 million in scholarships and grants. The average student package was $18,545.”

“The young women's leadership schools (tywls): through its high-performing network of all-girls public secondary schools, the network provides students from under-resourced communities with life-changing educational access. Our schools' high quality education and comprehensive college guidance programs ensure that 96% of our girls' school graduates are accepted to college. Over 60% of these girls are first generation college students. In the 19-20 school year, we educated 2,545 students in grades 6-12. Demographically, 79% were eligible for free or reduce lunch; 43% hispanic, 28% were african american, 19% asian, 5% caucasian, and 5% other. For the class of 2020, tywls graduated 328 seniors, 97% of the graduates were accepted to college and plan to enroll. 84% were accepted to a 4-year college and 14% to 2-year colleges.”
