Project genesis, inc. Is dedicated to providing individualized supports and training that empower people with disabilities to promote their independence and achieve and sustain their full range of rights and life experiences.

Project genesis, inc. Is dedicated to providing individualized support and training which empower people with disabilities to successfully meet their needs, achieve their desires and enjoy the full range of life experiences within their communities. The organization believes that each person who desires to live and work in their community can be successful. Our mission is to promote the independence of individuals in achieving and sustaining their full range of rights, experiences and desires. Our role is to discover opportunities and to provide training and support appropriate to the desires and needs of each individual. Each individual receiving services steers their service delivery and their provider team is focused on the goals and dreams of the individual. We believe that positive relationships are a tremendous force for positive change.

THIS AWARD-WINNING SERVICE ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE FULL LIVES IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.THE SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPPORT SERVICE PROGRAM PROVIDES SERVICES TO ASSIST YOUTH IN ACQUIRING THE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR A SUCCESSFUL ADULTHOOD. WE HELP STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES IN THE AREAS OF EMPLOYMENT, INDEPENDENT LIVING, COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND SELF-ADVOCACY. MANY STUDENTS ALSO RECEIVE ACADEMIC TUTORING OR SUPPORT IN DEVELOPING POSITIVE SOCIAL AND SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS.FUNDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION SERVICES, BUREAU OF REHABILITATION SERVICES, OUR JOBS PROGRAM ASSISTS CONNECTICUT ADULTS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF DISABILITIES TO OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THEIR CHOSEN FIELDS. WE PROVIDE VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS, EVALUATIONS, JOB DEVELOPMENT AND ON-SITE TRAINING TO ENSURE A POSITIVE JOB MATCH AND SMOOTH TRANSITION. FUNDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, OUR ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY (ABI) WAIVER PROGRAM PROVIDES BRAIN INJURY SURVIVORS SUPPORTS TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THEIR OWN HOMES AND IN THE COMMUNITIES OF THEIR CHOICE. WE PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR SURVIVORS TO PURSUE WORK GOALS BY VOLUNTEERING, SUPPORT THEM IN LEARNING PRE-VOCATIONAL SKILLS AND ASSIST THEM IN OBTAINING COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT. WE ASSIST OUR SURVIVORS IN ACCESSING COMMUNITY RESOURCES SUCH AS SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, GYMS, THEATERS, RESTAURANTS, GROUP CLUBS, CHURCHES AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CONNECTICUTS BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE, PROJECT GENESIS SPONSORS MONTHLY BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUPS IN WILLIMANTIC AND ELLINGTON, CT THAT DRAW SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS FROM THE ENTIRE NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST PARTS OF THE STATE. THESE MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE VERY WELL ATTENDED. THE MEETINGS ARE FACILITATED JOINTLY BY SURVIVORS AND OUR STAFF. ATTENDEES ENJOY LUNCH AND AN EXTENDED SOCIAL HOUR FOLLOWING EACH MEETING. WE ARE PROUD TO PROVIDE THIS MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR SURVIVORS, A SUPPORT GROUP THAT FOCUSES ON TRUST, DIGNITY, RESPECT AND A SENSE OF TOGETHERNESS. THE SUPPORT GROUP FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING FRIENDSHIPS FOR SURVIVORS AND FOR FAMILY MEMBERS, STRENGTHENING BONDS WITH THEIR LOVED ONES. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE OF CONNECTICUT, PROJECT GENESIS HOSTED THE 3RD ANNUAL, FUN IN THE SUN SUMMER COOKOUT, WHICH WAS ENJOYED BY NEARLY 200 ABI CONSUMERS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND PROVIDERS FROM ALL OVER THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. THE ANNUAL COOKOUT WAS HELD AT CAMP HARKNESS IN WATERFORD, CT AND PROVIDED A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR SURVIVORS, FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND ADVOCATES TO SOCIALIZE, STRENGTHEN FRIENDSHIPS AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER. CURRENT PROJECT GENESIS CONSUMERS AND BRAIN INJURY SURVIVORS PROVIDED LIVE MUSIC, A STAND-UP COMEDY ROUTINE, THE FOOD PREPARATION AND GRILLING AND THE DIRECTING OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING. VOLUNTEERS FROM BIAC AND PROJECT GENESIS ENSURED THE SET UP AND CLEANUP OF THIS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL EVENT THAT PROMOTED A GREAT SENSE OF COMMUNITY.IN 2014, OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPPORT SERVICES (SESS) PROGRAM HOSTED THE 1ST ANNUAL STUDENT LEARNING FAIR AT GENERATIONS IN WILLIMANTIC. THE LEARNING FAIR WAS RECEIVED INCREDIBLY WELL BY ALL OUR STUDENTS, OUR MENTORS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND PROJECT GENESIS TEAM. SESS MENTORS WERE THE CO-CHAIRS OF THE EVENT AND WERE OUTSTANDING IN DEVELOPING THE CONCEPT, PLANNING THE FAIR, SELECTING THE JUDGES AND CREATING THIS TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS. OVER TWENTY STUDENTS PARTICIPATED AND ENTERED PROJECTS IN ONE OF FOUR CATEGORIES IDENTIFIED ON THEIR RESPECTIVE INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN: LIVING SKILLS, ACADEMIC, VOCATIONAL AND RECREATION. STUDENTS COOKED WITH THEIR MENTORS AND PROVIDED REFRESHMENTS FOR THE EVENT AND PROJECT GENESIS DONATED FOOD AND SUPPLIES THAT WERE NEEDED. PRIZES WERE AWARDED TO GRO
