Activity 2

Operation fuel received a $1.1 million grant from the state of ct to run an emergency home energy assistance program during fy12. Grants of up to $500 were provided to 2103 eligible ct households and paid directly to oil or utility vendors. $100,000 of the grant was used to provide program and case management support by operation fuel's central office and its network of more than 100 fuel banks around the state of ct.

Activity 3

Operation fuel received 2 grants totaling $1.15 million to run a pilot program offering energy assistance and energy conservation workshops to women and minority-owned small businesses in 5 urban areas of ct. During fy12, 778 small businesses participated in the program, attended workshops on energy conservation and were given a $1,000 grant toward their electric bill. The balance of $192,129 from the original $1.15 million grants will be carried forward to fy13 to support year two of an expanded project/best which will focus on improving energy conservation among small businesses with high energy costs.
